DP83TC812R-Q1: Idle error counter support

Part Number: DP83TC812R-Q1

Tool/software:

Hi Teams,

Does the DP83TC812R-Q1 support idle error counter? Thanks.

  • Hi Che,

The Idle Error Counter is relevant only to the 1000Base-T Ethernet (Standard Ethernet). The DP83TC812R-Q1 is a 100BASE-T1 single-pair Ethernet device, and therefore does not support this counter. For this device, the packet error counters available in registers 0x639-0x63E can be used for diagnostic purposes.

    Best regards,

    Greg

  • Hello Gregory:

Thank you for your information , we would like to understand the following information

    (1) we want to know which DP83TC812 register address from 0x639-0x63E can read " the number of "idle errors counter" ? (same function would be ok)

    (2) we want to know which DP83TC812 register address from 0x639-0x63E can read the " link status" counter ? (same function would be ok)

    thank you

    Roy

  • Hi Roy,

    1. As the idle error counter is not relevant to the 1000Base-T Ethernet devices, these registers will not provide the same counter. By reading the 6 registers 0x639-0x63E in order, you can determine the TX and RX packet error. Does this meet the needed functionality?

    2. The registers are not specifically reading the link status, as they just provide packet error. Could you also clarify what is meant by link status counter? Is this different than the link status in Bit 2 of Register 0x01?

    Best regards,

    Greg
