Hi team,
If CAN is used in low-speed industrial control applications, can it share ESD protection with the RS-485 interface?

Hi Jimmy,
I am a bit confused by your question. Are you asking if one ESD diode would suffice for both RS-485 and CAN? Or are you asking if the ESD diode used for RS-485 can also be placed on the CAN lines?
Best,
McKenzie
Hi team,
My question is if the ESD diode used for RS-485 can also be placed on the CAN lines?
The client needs ESDs for various projects, but doesn't want to use two different ICs. Furthermore, CAN won't be used in automotive applications. So, should they be able to share the same ESD?
They wants uses ESDS552.
