DS90UB949A-Q1: DS90UB949A-Q1+DS90UB948-Q1 application check

Part Number: DS90UB949A-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS90UB948-Q1, , DS90UH948-Q1, DS90UH949A-Q1

Hi sir,

  1. Below is DS90UB949A-Q1+DS90UB948-Q1 combination, is this application support > 10M distance? What's the maximum distance?
  2. Is there any special and specific spec  for cable?
  3. DS90UB949A-Q1+DS90UB948-Q1 & DS90UH949A-Q1+DS90UH948-Q1(w/ HDCP) are P2P compatible?
  4. When DS90UB948-Q1 connect LVDS Panel. there's white screen when video switch. How to do the control in Pane  BL & VDD timing sequence control? In DS90UB948-Q1, there's no control PIN? is there any PIN or GPIO which can send alert to MCU to notify the video switching?

  • Hi Sean,

Below is DS90UB949A-Q1+DS90UB948-Q1 combination, is this application support > 10M distance? What's the maximum distance? Is there any special and specific spec  for cable?

Maximum cable length is dependent on the cable type and the PCLK of the application. In the 948 datasheet, Table 7-6 lists typical cable lengths with respect to PCLK. There is a channel specification for FPD-Link III devices which outlines the max attenuation for the system but this is an NDA document.

A cable length >10 meters is possible if using a low attenuation cable with a lower PCLK but ultimately the channel specifications must be met.

    DS90UB949A-Q1+DS90UB948-Q1 & DS90UH949A-Q1+DS90UH948-Q1(w/ HDCP) are P2P compatible?

Yes. The UB and UH devices are P2P compatible.

What's the background of the white screen when video is switched? Is the video being hot-plugged on the HDMI port connected to the 949?

There are GPIOs on the UB948 which can be controlled by a system controller on the 949 or mirror the GPIO state on the 949. The UB948 GPIOs cannot independently determine when the video source is stopped or switched. This is the responsibility of the system controller or MCU.

    Best,

    Jack
