TUSB4020BI: High-speed or Full-speed

Part Number: TUSB4020BI
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TUSB2036

Hi team,

I understand that this device supports both high-speed and full-speed modes. Is it correct to assume that the speed mode can be intentionally switched between the two? If so, how can the speed be changed?

If this device cannot be switched and only operates in high-speed mode, are there any ICs available that can switch between high-speed and full-speed modes?

Best Regards,

Shota

  • Hi Shota:

In USB2 hub,  there is Transaction Translator which handles high speed and full speed transaction, it did not switch between high speed and full speed, but split high speed and full speed  in different path.

  • Hi Brian

Thank you very much for your response. I have an additional question.

Regardless of the type of host device, I am considering inserting a Full-Speed-only USB hub IC inside the USB device in order to forcibly downgrade the communication speed to Full-Speed. With a device like the TUSB2036, is it possible to communicate at Full-Speed even if the host supports High-Speed?

    Best Regards,

    Shota

  • Hi Shota:

If full speed hub  ( like TUSB2036) is used , any devices connected to the hub will be enumerated as full speed device even if   the host supports High-Speed.
