TPD12S016: TPD12S016 design files

Part Number: TPD12S016

Hi,

We are thinking of purchasing the board,

Can you please send me DSN and BRD file?

Thanks,

Dan

  • Hi Dan,

This EVM is old enough that it is unlikely that I will be able provide the design files.

I do recommend that you read and carefully understand the SCL_B and SCL_A VIL requirements in the spec.  They are exceptionally tight an most commercially available MCU's do not meet under all conditions.

    Regards,

    Chuck

  • Hi Chuck,

I have 3.3V on the LV side and 5V on the HV side, I see in the DS that the LV side requirement is 1.1-3.6V so it seems OK to me, am I missing something?

Also, I didn't fully understand what you wrote about the design files, there is no scheme and layout for this circuit?

I want to make sure this board is right for my needs before purchasing it so I need the files.

    Thanks,

    Dan

  • Dan,

Here is the section of the datasheet that you need to consider carefully:

Whatever is driving SCL_A and SDA_A needs to be able to pull the signal a level much lower than most microcontrollers can support.

The EVM was created 15 years ago and the reference data has long been archived.  The only schematic that I can access quickly is what is included https://www.ti.com/lit/ug/sllu154/sllu154.pdf

    Regards,

    Chuck

  • Hi Chuck,

Thanks for the information, that really seems problematic,

What do you suggest to do? Do you think of different component maybe?

    Thanks,

    Dan

  • Dan,

We have tried to fixed the issue using an I2C level shifter, but we do not have a really compatible part that works well with current MCUs.  The level shifter is not technically a datasheet guaranteed solution.  It still shows a gap in performance..
