SN65HVD233: Input capacitance vs ISO 11898-2 compliance

Hello Team,
Part#: SN65HVD233DR.
We are intent to use above part# in one of our product, which needs ISO 11898-2 compliant CAN bus.
When I closely look into the Input capacitance specification, ISO 11898-2 need 'CI' Input capacitance (CANH or CANL) = 20pF and 'CID' Differential input capacitance = 10pF. But 'SN65HVD233DR' has double than ISO 11898-2 (CI=40pF and CID=20pF). Kindly clarify on this.

Kindly confirm whether there is any other CAN transceiver IC, which is fully compliant with ISO 11898-2 and with self-test/loopback capability.

    TCAN334 not seems to be exact alternate part of SN65HVD233.
    * TCAN334 doesn't have diagnostic loopback (vs available SN65HVD233).
    * Slope Control is not available (vs available SN65HVD233).
    * Bus Fault Protection ±14 V (vs ±36 V SN65HVD233).


    Kindly confirm whether SN65HVD233DR compliant to ISO 11898-2 Input capacitance specification. As per datasheet 'SLLS557H – REVISED NOVEMBER 2018', it is stated that "Compatible With ISO 11898-2".

    Yes, they are both complaint and compatible as I just took another look at the ISO 11898-2:2024 standard to double confirm and do not see any CID limitations, thanks.

    ISO 11898-2 Input capacitance specification:

    The statement as in the specification is as below,
    "The parameters given in Table 6 shall be tested at the CAN_L and CAN_H pins of each CAN node, according to the conformance tests specified in Clause 6 of ISO 16845.
    Table 6 — AC parameters of CAN node disconnected from bus
      Internal capacitance (Cin) = 20 pF
      Differential internal capacitance @ 1 Mbit/s (Cdiff ) = 10 pF"

    TCAN334:
    This part# is inline with ISO 11898-2 Input capacitance specification. But loopback feature is not available. Hence, it is not fit for my requirement.

    SN65HVD233DR:
    Ref: SLLS557H (NOVEMBER 2018), '8.7 Electrical Characteristics: Receiver'
    Internal capacitance (Cin) = 40 pF
    Differential internal capacitance (Cdiff) = 20 pF.

    Hence, there is some deviation with 'ISO 11898-2'.

    Kindly confirm whether my understanding is correct or not.

    I believe your are referencing the older standards prior to 2016. Please help confirm double confirm if you see the any deviations from the same definitions for ISO 11898-2:2024, thanks.
