TUSB2E11EVM: Question on eUSB test setup with two TUSB2E11 EVBs

Part Number: TUSB2E11EVM

Dears

To better understand eUSB transmission, I purchased two TUSB2E11 EVBs for evaluation. In my current setup, one EVB is connected to a laptop (host) and the other EVB is connected to a USB 2.0 device. The two EVBs are linked using an SMP cable. However, the USB 2.0 device does not enumerate on the laptop side.

  • All jumpers on both EVBs remain at the default (as-shipped) settings; no changes were made.

  • VBUS is supplied with a 5 V adapter.

Could you please advise whether this test method is appropriate? If not, could you share the correct test configuration (including any required jumper settings, cable orientation, or additional components) so that the USB 2.0 device can be detected properly?

Thank you for your assistance.

  • Hi Ronan,

Unfortunately, no, you cannot test the eUSB EVMs like this. You have it setup like the diagram below, correct?

As part of the eUSB2 spec, the repeaters are configured via the eUSB2 lines to set their role. However, our eUSB2 repeaters are not able to communicate with each other, meaning this application will not work. You would need an eUSB2 host or an eUSB2 device in order to configure these repeaters properly.

    Thanks,

    Ryan
