TUSB4041I: Certificate of Volatility

Our part does not have any DRAM or SRAM component, so I don't believe this certificate should apply to the TUSB4041. The TUSB4041 only has EEPROM memory, which does not apply to the SRAM or DRAM criteria.

Hi Ryan,

I was looking at the datasheet and noticed the part had some OTP ROM as well as configuration registers and endpoint buffers. I have a few questions regarding those sections. What size is the OTP ROM? For the registers, can defaults be programmed on the chip without having an external EEPROM? If so, how many bytes can be written to internal EEPROM for that config? The are the endpoint buffers on the chip? If so, what size are they and do they clear all data when the chip powered down?

Hi Jason,

The OTP ROM for this device is 8 bytes, and typically cannot be programmed directly.

There is no internal EEPROM for this device, an external EEPROM would need to be used for any register configuration on start-up.

Any information written to the TUSB4041I will be cleared on reset, and then read from the external EEPROM on start-up.

Thanks for the additional information. Ok so to be clear, is the 8 byte OTP user programmable at all? Can you also speak to the endpoint buffers as to size and volatility? Do these buffers clear on power down?

Hi Jason,

I am checking internally on the endpoint buffers, I am not totally familiar with these. As for the 8 Byte OTP, these are programmed at the factory and cannot be programmed by the user.

Hi Jason,

There are endpoint buffers on the TUSB4041I, these are non-voltatile and 64 bytes. On power down, these buffers clear, yes.
