DS560DF410EVM: Support for highly dynamic communication channels

Part Number: DS560DF410EVM

Hi Experts,

We'd like to ask assistance on the following issue:

Test setup:

Evaluation board DS560DF410EVM. RX0 is connected to external clock source at 6.25 Gbps (matching the target Baude rate for PAM-4). TX0 is connected to RX1 via a physical channel (attenuator + amplifier). DS560Latte software with standard script is used for configuration.

  • TX0 is configured as PRBS generator
  • RX1 is evaluated with BERT, 1D-Eye-scans, FOM readings, and RX coefficient read back

Issue:

Especially with dynamic communication channels (change of gain of 3 dB in periods of less than 300s), we are facing transmission errors and incomprehensible RX coefficients. So far, we have exploited all the configuration options documented in the programmer guide (Literature Number: SNLU294 DECEMBER 2022), but with no improvement.

Request:

Are there any configuration options to improve auto-adaptive RX coefficients for highly dynamic channels? Target dynamic period of channel is 0.2 s.

Regards,
Christian

  • We would really appreciate receiving any information beyond what is contained in the documents “Programmer's Guide SNLU294”, "User's Guide SNLU319" and the full data sheet. Anything related to the auto-adaptation mechanism will help us find a solution to the problem.

    Thank you,

    Christian

  • Hi Christian,

Sorry for the delay.  There is not a lot of configurability with the background adaptation.  Besides enabling background adaptation (enabled by default), there is not another parameter that I'm aware of that would impact this.

    Thanks,

    Drew
