TCAN1044-Q1: TCAN1044Q1

Part Number: TCAN1044-Q1

This CAN Transceiver is used with RH850 MCU - So since this Transceiver is hardware part and all CAN related failures - TX,RX - CAN H ,CAN L -Short to GND ,Bat ect for all failures - Thermal issues ,voltage fluctuation failures -Transceiver can just detect with hardware and shuts off TX,RX -Then MCU will detect through Tx error counter ,RX error counter ,Bus off monitoring register -

Now as MCU has to try recovery for this connection with transceiver - There is only STB (Stand by) pin where MCU can try reinitialize Transceiver to check if sync properly again -is our understanding correct -so as MCU even cant get Root cause for Transceiver fail then is it correct as for all such instances MCU will try transceiver recovery with STB pin?

  • Hi Manoj,

This transceiver does not have capability to detect bus fault as you said above, those advanced detection features are on our PN CAN devices like TCAN114x-Q1.

The STB pin is simply used to change transceiver mode, either normal or standby. So yes, with those bus faults presented, the MCU should be able to detect the error bits on RXD, then it change the transceiver to standby mode. Once those faults are removed, the MCU can try to recover communication by putting the transceiver back to normal mode.
