DS160PR410: Unused PCIe channel connection

Part Number: DS160PR410

For the PCIe re driver DS160PR410 part.

Currently we are using only two channel in our design and other two channels are unused.

As i could see in the forum recomended to connect un used input with  49.9-ohm and AC coupling Cap to ground., We can leave un-used outputs open.

Is it ok to leave unused channels input and output floating..?

is it fine to connect, perticular unused channel P and N shorted connected with capacitor and series resistor connected to ground or do we need to connect individual P and N pins with seperate capacitor and resistor in series.

Also 50ohm resistor and 220nF capacitor will be fine..?

  • Hi,

We recommend the same way as the previous post. We recommend to use separate capacitor and resistor for the pair as this is to ensure 100ohm differential is kept on the input lanes.

  • If channels 2 and 3 are not being used and we set PWDN2 high to power them down,

if we disable the channel, still do we need to add resistor and capacitor on unused input channel pins.?

  • Hi Vinayak,

If you are to disable the channel, you most likely do not need as there is internal differential termination. However, to ensure the pins are also terminated to the GND, we would still recommend additional termination if you are worried about the device picking up noise, etc.
