DS250DF230: PRBS generator and mission mode usage

Part Number: DS250DF230

Hi,

On page 33 of SNLU182H (the programmer's guide for DS2x0DF810, DS250DFx10, DS250DF230), there is a note stating that the PRBS generator is a test feature and is not intended for mission mode usage. What does it mean by "mission mode usage"? Would this mean using the PRBS functionality as the main feature of a product and is not rated to be turned on and off repeatedly?

If I were to stick to the recommendation of not enabling more than 2 generators/checkers per quad, am I able to run them for 600 (ideally 920) seconds at a time if I have incorporated good thermal design?

Regards,

Liang

  • Hi Liang,

I will check on this internally and get back to you as soon as possible.

    Best regards,

    Greg

  • Hi Liang,

The note in the Programming Guide that you are referring to is stating that the PRBS generator works, but has a limited channel count. In addition, device validation focuses on the typical use case (retimer) and has less emphasis on the PRBS generator.  If you follow these recommendations for PRBS generator/checker use and incorporate good thermal design, these run times should not be an issue.

    Best regards,

    Greg
