DS90UB948-Q1: Dwell time setting in the MAP test.

Part Number: DS90UB948-Q1

Hi,

We are conducting FPDLink communication using the DS90UB948 and DS90UB927. We will connect the PC and DES to perform a MAP test.

  1. There is a dwell time setting in the MAP configuration. Is this the duration of communication used to determine the link status? I understand that communication occurs for the duration set by the dwell time, and if there are bit errors during that time, the link is judged to be unstable. The longer the dwell time, the higher the reliability of error detection.

However, when we tested with dwell times of 10ms, 1000ms, and 5000ms, the test completion time was 6 minutes in all cases. If my understanding is correct, then reducing the dwell time should also shorten the measurement time.

  1. Is it a specification that the measurement time does not change regardless of the dwell time setting? If the measurement time does not change, I do not understand the reason for making the dwell time configurable.

Best,

  • Hi,

Your understanding is correct. The dwell time should increase.

Can you make sure to press "ENTER" when you update the dwell time? There should be update pop-up like this. That ensures the dwell time is updated.

    Esther

  • Hi,

Thank you for your prompt response. As you pointed out, I hadn't pressed 'ENTER'... After pressing 'ENTER', the photo popup appeared, and I was able to make the settings.

Even though I halved the dwell time, the measurement time did not become half, but I understand that there may be some discrepancies due to communication conditions and the measurement mechanism, so I will use it accordingly.

    Best,
