TCAN1042-Q1: Several questions confirmed

Part Number: TCAN1042-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TCAN1042GV-Q1,

Hi team,

Pls help to confirm:

1. Bus fault protection refers to CANH and CANL overvoltage thresholds. Is there a time limit?

 2. What conditions do the differences between TCAN1042 GVDRPRQ 1 and TCAN1044 AVDRPRQ 1 apply to?

3, 12V systems and 24V systems have any requirements for receiver common-mode input voltage parameters

  • Hi Alan,

    1. Do you mean the abs max rating of CANH/CANL pin? Those are thresholds cannot be exceeded. There is no time limit as long as the voltage is within the abs max rating.

    2. TCAN1044AV-Q1 uses a newer technology hence the price is lower, it also support up to 8Mbps. While TCAN1042GV-Q1 has a better ESD rating. Thus if your customer don't need those extra ESD protection, TCAN1044AV-Q1 is more recommended.

    3. The ISO11898-2 defines a common mode range of ±12V for CAN, it doesn't depend on battery voltage. TCAN1042-Q1 support a wider common mode range up to ±30V.

    Regards,

    Sean
