TUSB4041I-Q1: Data rate when connect multi devices

Part Number: TUSB4041I-Q1

Hi Team,

1.What's the data rate of each port when connect four HS devices? 480Mbps/4 = 120Mbps?

2.How about 3 HS + 1 FS? What's speed for each port?

3.What's the benefit of multi transaction translator (MTT)?

Thank you!

Marc

  • Hi Marc:

1.What's the data rate of each port when connect four HS devices? 480Mbps/4 = 120Mbps?

all 4 ports are still 480Mbps for data rate, but ideal throughput   for each port will be 120Mbps, Due to payload, overhead, real throughput for each port will be <120bps.

    2.How about 3 HS + 1 FS? What's speed for each port?

3 ports with 480Mbps and 1 port with FS 12Mbps for data rate .

3.What's the benefit of multi transaction translator (MTT)?

TT is used to separate HS and FS transaction. MTT can handle TT at the same time for downstream ports. STT will handle TT for one  downstream port at the same time. MTT will have higher throughput than STT.

  • Hi Brian, Do you know what the real throughput of each port? For example, when testing a 1GB file to be transmitted simultaneously to four ports, what is the actual rate of each port?

  • total USB2 HS  band width is 480Mbps. so each port will be 120Mbps which is 15 MB/s, but actual throughput  will be <15MB/s because of protocol overhead, device/controller limitations, bus sharing, USB transfer type.
