TMUX1208: Questions regarding D pin & adding bypass cap

Part Number: TMUX1208
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LDC1314

Hello experts,

Currently my customer is reviewing our TMUX1208 for their induction project. They are having a few failure cases with their design, where the D pin became short. IC & VDD pin are not dead, and customer is suspecting that the reason is because there is 10uF + 100nF bypass cap at the VDD pin. (their system is very noisy) Could you please share your feedback on below cases?

  1. Is there a TVS diode inside of the D pin (pin #8)?
  2. Is the D pin connected to VDD via CMOS (push-pull) configuration?
  3. TMUX1208 is connected to LDC1314 for position sensing, and the coil's resonant frequency is 2MHz~4MHz. The TMUX is in between the coil & LDC1314. In this case, how much bypass cap can they add to the D pin, maximum?

Thank you.

  • Hi Jade,

    1. There is a diode from D to VDD (you can tell by the abs max of VD being VDD+0.5V), but it is not a TVS diode.
    2. No. The only connection is via the diode mentioned above.
    3. I would recommend starting with a 1uF cap and adjusting as needed.

    Best,
    Katy
