Part Number: TXG1041
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TXG1042
Hello,
I would like to request clarification regarding the “Isolation rating: Functional” listed on the TXG104x (TXG1041 / TXG1042) product page.

In the datasheet, the device is described as a “non-galvanic based translator”, and no isolation-related parameters such as kVrms isolation voltage, VIOTM/VIORM, or UL/IEC insulation category are provided.
Our current understanding is that the “Functional” label on the product page refers only to functional separation, meaning the device can tolerate ±10 V ground offset and offers good CMTI performance.
We believe this is not related in any way to safety insulation categories defined in IEC/UL standards (Functional, Basic, Reinforced insulation).
In other words, TXG104x does not contain a galvanic isolation barrier and therefore cannot be used in applications that require certified safety isolation (e.g., primary/secondary separation).
Could you please confirm if this understanding is correct?
Thanks,
Conor
