TIC12400EVM-KIT: Questions about how to implement GSPI communicate with a host

Part Number: TIC12400EVM-KIT
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TIC12400

Hi Team,

I'm helping my customer to post this E2E thread.

They have questions about below, can you help to provide your support here? Thanks in advance.

  1. Current communicates between EVT kit to PC is via micro-USB.
If customer want to use their Host's GSPI interface to control our EVM's chip, where can they jump to their MB?
How to use GSPI to communicate with the host.
Can I use TP4 connector for GSPI?
Is there anything else I should pay attention to?
  2. What is the setting values of current for 12V VIN input?

  3. Could you please provide the download link for the driver?
I believe they can download the GUI from www.ti.com/.../TIC12400EVM-KIT, so I will share this to him first.

Thanks!

  • Hello Kai,

    1) You can use J3 to interface SPI, INT and RESET

    2) I don't have this information at the moment. I would need to capture this in lab.

    3) To interface with the EVM, the customer can download the TIC-EVM GUI.

Please expect delays in our responses since we are celebrating Thanksgiving Holiday in the US. Thanks!

    Regards,

    Josh

  • Hi Josh,

Please find customer update as below :

    1. Customer now rework their x86 mother board(SOM6833) and connect to our EVM like below, and can access our TIC12400 register by GUI.
    2. Can check fail (Using ”lspci” under Ubuntu 24 environment can’t find TIC12400 device)

      /dev/spi*

    3. Controller

      1. Serial Bus Controller 54a4   --> V
      2. Serial Bus Controller 54fb    --> V

    4. HW config like :

    Questions:

    1. Do we need to add an ACPI table entry in the BIOS so that the device can be detected under the device tree? What format should be used for adding it?
Is adding the Device ID alone sufficient?
    2. Is our current configuration correct? Do we also need to connect the INT and RST signals?
    3. How can we access the TIC12400 under Ubuntu? Is there any sample code or an SDK available for this device?

    Best,

    Kai

  • Hi Kai,

The team is currently out of office due to Holidays, responses will be delayed. Thank you for understanding.

    Regards,

    Jack

  • Hello Kai,

    1) My software knowledge is a little limited and not entirely sure if you need an ACPI table or not. My apologies.

    2) If you don't need to use the INT signal, then you can leave it floating. If you don't need to use to reset the part, keep RESET pin low.

    3) We don't have any sample code or SDK available for this part. For communicating with the GUI via SPI, TIC12400-EVM uses the same circuitry as the USB2ANY adapter EVM.

    Regards,

    Josh
