Hi Team,

I would like to ask:

Does the TUSB320LAI, as a source, require I2C to configure the 3A power output? Are there any other methods? For example, using pull-up or pull-down on certain pins, or fixing it inside the chip via OTP.

Hi Kailun,

Yes, I2C would be needed to enable 3A Advertisement over the CC lines.

The TUSB321 does allow this setting to be set via the GPIO however, I would recommend looking at this device instead.

Hi Kailun,

The TUSB320LAI and the TUSB321AI are not P2P, but perform very similar functionality. The main differences is that the TUSB321AI does not support I2C, but does support CURRENT_MODE selection via the GPIO, as well as a DIR for indicating the orientation of the type-C cable.

If you customer needs I2C, I would recommend the TUSB320LAI. If they want to use GPIO, I would recommend the TUSB321AI.

Thanks for your quick response. Customer's question is based on TUSB320LAI, but your answer is based on TUSB321 and TUSB321AI. Are you refer to TUSB320LAI?

Hi Kailun,

For TUSB320LAI, the customer will require I2C to configure the CC pins for 3A advertisement.
