TCAN1145-Q1: Wake up

Part Number: TCAN1145-Q1

Hello team,

How long does it take without messages on the bus for the transceiver to return to SLEEP mode? Is it tINACTIVE (3.75–5 min)?
We currently have a strange phenomenon: when the message interval is less than 870 ms, the 1145 is woken up and INH stays high. When the message interval is greater than 870 ms, the 1145 is woken up but INH fluctuates between high and low. We suspect this is because it returns to SLEEP mode and then is woken up again. This timing seems similar to the tSILENCE (0.6–1.2 s) parameter. How can we explain this phenomenon?

BR,

Daniel

  • Daniel,

Do you have waveforms for these two cases? i.e including CANH, CANL and INH to see how INH change with the bus activity. I would also recommend to monitor VCC and VIO as an undervoltage event can also put the device into sleep mode.

tINACTIVE is the time the device will be forced to enter sleep mode by SWE timer if it stays in standby mode or being idle in normal mode. From your description it doesn't seems to be caused by be the SWE timer. Can you read the 0x10 register to confirm which mode it was during the INH fluctuating?

    Regards,

    Sean
