PCA9306 VREF1/VREF2 current sink

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PCA9306

Hi,

I am using PCA9306, one question is related the power supplies I need to provided to VREF1 and VREF2 pins.

When IO SCL1/SDA1 or SCL2/SDA2 sink a big current, for example 100mA(datasheet limit is 128mA). Do they reflect to VREF1/2 that my power supplies need a good reguation capability?

or VREF1/2 work as gate control, so no big currents are expected?

  • Vref1/2 are used to set the gate voltage and there for no large current is expected. However, one thing to note is that there is a residual current path from Vref1 to Vref2 and this is the reason for the Resistor (current limiting) in series with the Vref2 in teh application diagram.
