ESDEVM: Board parasitics calibration

Hi team,

Based on the userguide of ESDEVM, S parameter analysis is possible, and J16 and J17 are used to calibrate the board parasitics. I cannot imagine how it does. Could you please kindly why J16 and J17 can calibrate the board parasitics?

Hi Shunuke,

Apologies for the delay in my response. I see how this statement in the EVM user guide is confusing. If you measure J16 and J17, you get the board parasitics, which you should remove from the measurements you would get in J9 and J10 to get the real values (without board parasitics).

Hi Shunsuke,

Unfortunately, we do not have any TI documents that talk about how to do this. The good side is there are a lot of good resources online that talk about De-embedding which is the process of removing the board parasitic. I would recommend looking at this video which provides a quick introduction to this concept https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0BZSXz02y7o.

This is a very common term in RF engineering so there is a lot of public information on how to do this.
