TS3USBCA4: Using the TS3USBCA4 for USB4 sideband signals

Part Number: TS3USBCA4

Hi

Are there any known issue or limitations in utilizing the TS3USBCA4 devices in an application requiring USB4 sideband signal muxing from the SBU lines?  Standard DisplayPort AUX will also be muxed with one of the other mux IO.

Regards

Malcolm

  • Hi Malcom,

I have not seen TS3USBCA4 used for USB4 sideband signal muxing before, but since this is a passive mux, as long as the signals fall within the datasheet specifications below, it should fine.

A note on bandwidth - you should always choose a switch with a bandwidth 5-7x higher than the signal frequency (specifically for CLK signals/ square waves). The bandwidth for this device is 550MHz.

    Best,
    Katy
