DS320PR810: About placement on the PCIe board

Part Number: DS320PR810

Dear Technical Support Team,

Since there are connectors and cards between the root complex side and the endpoint side, we are considering placing two DS320PR810(TX and RX).

Q1

Should they be placed closer to the driver side?

Q2

Should they be placed closer to the receiver side, where loss is greater and the eye diagram becomes smaller?

Q3

would placing them roughly in the middle, like in the EVM, be best?

  • Hi ttd,

Typically, the redriver is placed like the second one where you can maximize the redriver loss compensation performance. This is because redrivers can only compensate for the receiver loss, and not the loss that happens after the output of the redriver.
