1. The reliable indicator would be wether the transmitted frame is ACKed. If no other active CAN node present on the bus, the transmitter should not see a dominant ACK bit and the controller may flag an ACK error and the frame may be retransmitted repeatedly. Hence, would recommend to double confirm the expectation from the controller.
