TXB0106: TXB0106: UART application

Part Number: TXB0106
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TXU0202

Dear TI team,

Could you please let me know whether TXB0106 can be used for UART interface? Below are my requirements for the design.

VCCA: 1.2V
VCCB: 3.3V
Speed: 115200

Regards
Shyam

  • Yes.

(For the two UART lines alone, the TXU0202 would be more suitable.)

  • Hi Clemens,

Thank you for the quick response.

I have 3 ports with UART_TX and UART_RX signals. Is it possible to use all the 6 bit for the set of 3 ports. I am planning with the below configurations. Could you please check and let me know whether I can continue with this configuration or not?

    Port A:

    Uart_tx_1

    Uart_rx_1

    Uart_tx_2

    Uart_rx_2

    Uart_tx_3

    Uart_rx_3

    Port B:

    Uart_tx_LS_1

    Uart_rx_LS_1

    Uart_tx_LS_2

    Uart_rx_LS_2

    Uart_tx_LS_3

    Uart_rx_LS_3

Note: LS here in the net name is just to inform that the signal is after level shifter.

  • Hello Shyam,

Yes, given the additional details, the TXB0106 can be used for UART level shifting. The recommendation Clemens' provided earlier is a robust solution for level shifting 2-wire UART bus- due to its specific direction driving per channel.

Here is an app note for designing with the TXB translators: www.ti.com/.../scea135.pdf
