MAX232: Older MAX232 devices not working, new devices are working

Part Number: MAX232

Hello team - can you please help with the below?

 

We are running into an issue where older batches work, but a newer batch does not. This is the TI P/N MAX232IDWR. Was there a wafer manufacturing change, or some other reason why newer batches don’t work anymore for us?

 

The old batch that does work has batch number 27ALFNT, and part ID of MAX232I G4

The new batch that does not work has batch number 57AEXXT, and part ID of MAX232I

    Can you provide a better description of the issue?

    Do we have any scopeshots of what a passing signal looks like vs a failing?

    There was a change, but the datasheet's recommendations and guaranteed limits have not changed.

    This device uses charge pumps to generate the bus voltages, and switching power supplies are sensitive to the board layout (i.e., traces to capacitors must be as short and thick as possible). Please show the schematic and layout.
