DP83TC815-Q1: Sleep Mode

Part Number: DP83TC815-Q1

Hi team,

Joynext wonder if they can use DP83TC815-Q1 force sleep function to achieve the goal that dirve INH pin low after sleep is forced, and then wake up the DP83TC815-Q1 only by pull high the WAKE pin. Can DP83TC815-Q1 support this?

From their current test results, the INH pin sometimes is still high after the sleep is forced, is the INH behavior as expected? If not, can you please help explain the cause? If drive the WAKE pin high is the only way to wake up the PHY after sleep is forced? Thanks

  • Hi Xiaowei,

After the PHY is placed in sleep mode, it can be woken up through two methods:

    1. Remote Wake: The PHY detects activity on MDI, typically a wake up pulse (WUP).
    2. Local Wake: The PHY detects WAKE pin is HIGH.

In the customers case, when they force sleep, are they muting link partner MDI?

It sounds like the customer wants to disable remote wake.  Is this correct?

I need to check to see if this is possible and will follow up on this next week.

    Thanks,
