TUSB2E221: Is charging port controller available with eUSB repeter

Hi team,

Customer is asking if TPS2546 can be used in between type-A connector and TUSB2E221. Could you check if it's possible and please share if any tips like repeater should be enabled before TPS2546 is enabled. image.png

    What is the customer trying to incorporate by adding the TPS2546? The TUSB2E221 already supports CDP BC1.2 functionality, is there additional functionality the customer is looking for?

    Hi Ryan,

    TPS2546 is used to achieve BC1.2, VBUS current limit and load SW. I didn't recognize TUSB2E221 supports BC1.2, so do you recommend BC1.2 is supported by TUSB2E221 and use other device that have current limit like TPS2521 so that DP/DN is connected to TUSB2E221 directly?

    Anyway, I would like to know if the configuration of the image is acceptable.

    Hi Koyo,

    If the customer only needs the BC1.2 functionality and not the load switch functionality and only needs CDP functionality, then using the TUSB2E221 should be able to support this, yes.

    If the customer still wanted to use the TPS2546, they would need to disable the BC1.2 functionality on the TUSB2E221, as there should be only one BC1.2 controller on the path. Otherwise the connection in the picture should be okay, yes.
