P82B715: Confirmation on end of life(EOL) estimation P82B715DR

Part Number: P82B715
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: P82B96, , TCA9517A, TCA9617B, TCA9517

Hello Team,

We are currently using the P82B715DR in our product. As part of our ongoing product redesign activities, we reviewed the component lifecycle information on Silicon Expert, which indicates that the P82B715DR has an estimated EOL of 6.1 years.

Could you please confirm whether this information is accurate?

Additionally, we are exploring alternate or drop‑in replacement components that offer a minimum lifecycle/EOL of more than 7 years. If available, kindly share any suitable replacement recommendations or compatible parts with a longer expected lifecycle.

Your support on this matter will help us finalize the redesign and ensure long‑term component availability.

Thank you.

  • Hi Rahul,

I am not sure what Silicon Expert is, but I assume it is a third party that analyzes a large data set to determine estimated EOL for devices.

To give a EOL date is difficult to determine for this device. P82B715 and P82B96 are of a similar class of long cable I2C buffers and are the only 2 of their kind at the moment for the I2C buffer portfolio.

Given these devices are used in niche applications, more expensive, and on an older process node, I would suspect that 6.1 years could be an accurate estimate depending on how the market progresses in terms of I2C buffering specifically long cable buffering, but I cannot give a guarantee that this is so.

If you want a buffer that has a longer term of availability, buffers like TCA9517 / TCA9517A  and most importantly TCA9617B, will have much longer estimated time in the market given their popularity and p2p nature amongst several competitors. While these buffers are not necessarily long cable buffers, they can still buffer cap loads of 400pF and 550pF (TCA9617B).

3000pF and 4000pF loads are specific to the P82 series.

How much cap load are you driving in your application? TCA9617B might be able to fulfill this need.

    Regards,

    Tyler
