DP83849C: Query on 2-port Ethernet Switch IC operating temperature

As per datasheet’s recommended Operating Conditions  – the Commercial Ambient Temp  for DP83849C is 0-70 deg C. However, our requirement is -40 – 85 deg C. Can you please confirm on this?

    Hi,

    That is correct. The ambient temperature rating for this dual PHY device is 0C to 70C. Please note this is not an ethernet switch, it is two PHYs in one device.

    If you need -40C to 85C I recommend switching to the newer DP83826AE or DP83826AI. This is a single PHY, but performs the same function and operates from -40C to 85C (AI) or -40C to 105C (AE).

    Hi, 

    What about DP83849I? My requirement is of a 2 Port device. I guess this doesn't require any additional external circuitry (like eg. an external LDO).

    And may I please know the EOL of this Part number and Obsolescence & Warranty support?

    Hi Bhabana

    DP83849 requires a 3.3V power rail. If this voltage is available then no LDOs are required

    As for external circuitry, you would need a clock source and magnetics in the signal path similar to what is shown in the datasheet:

    There are currently no plans to EOL this device. Should this part enter the EOL phase, a notice will be sent to customers and a last 'lifetime buy' will be offered where you can order as much as you need. Any warranties are described in TI's Terms of Sale.
