THVD1552: SPI to RS-422 TRANSMISSION

Part Number: THVD1552
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM26LV31E

Hello,

I came across this thread:
https://e2e.ti.com/support/interface-group/interface/f/interface-forum/1433841/thvd1552-spi-to-rs-422-uart-to-rs-485-design-solution

It mentions interfacing SPI using RS-422. My question is whether there would be any timing issues when using this approach, and whether the MISO data can be read properly. My maximm distance is up to 2 meters. Will the configuration mentioned in the above thread work in this case?

  • Hi Karthikeyan,

Thanks for reaching out on E2E!

I am catching up on my E2E threads, but I will get you a response tomorrow. Thanks for your patience!

  • Hi Karthikeyan,

Yes, you can replicate the setup in the other post. Now I cannot speak to the timing requirements of SPI. But you can check the switching characteristics table for each of our transceivers. Both the AM26LV31E and the THVD1552 have fast rise/fall times and propagation delay so I doubt there will be any issues there.

RS-485 and RS-422 support up to 1200 meters so 2 meters is not a concern at all.

    Best,

    Ethan
