DS100BR111: DS100BR111 review requirement

Part Number: DS100BR111

Hi

Due to our project “TAURUS10” using the DS100BR111 for SFI extension (Orange highlight).

Could you please review the schematic as attachment? Thanks.

  • Hi Vince,

I will review the schematic and will get back to you as soon as possible.

    Best regards,

    Greg

  • Hi Greg,

OK, I look for your response. Thanks.

    Vince

  • Hi Vince,

Here are some comments on the schematic:

DIFFERENTIAL HIGH SPEED I/O's: Ensure that CML inputs are AC-coupled

ENSMB: Tied high, indicates Register Access SMBus Slave Mode (OK)

SCL/SDA: External 2 kΩ to 5 kΩ pull-up resistor to VIN (3.3 V mode) recommended as per SMBus interface standards. I did not see these in schematic

AD0-AD3: AD[3:0] set to 0001, which corresponds to 7-bit slave address of 0x59 (OK)

    READEN: Tied low (OK)

DONE: As device is in SMBus mode, the device mode of operation will have to be set via registers. I wanted to confirm this, as it is indicated on the schematic that this pin will be used as an input, which is only the case in Pin Mode.

TX_DIS: Pulled down to GND, OUTA and OUTB enabled (OK)

    LOS:  OK

SD_TH: Floating - 180 mVpp, 110 mVpp LOS threshold setting (OK)

VDD_SEL: Low, indicates 3.3V operation (OK)

    VDD: External decoupling (OK)

    VIN: OK

    Best regards,

    Greg

  • Hi Greg,

My response is as follows (in orange font), thanks.

DIFFERENTIAL HIGH SPEED I/O's: Ensure that CML inputs are AC-coupled

Vince: OK, we have confirmed these parts. Thanks for your reminder.

SCL/SDA: External 2 kΩ to 5 kΩ pull-up resistor to VIN (3.3 V mode) recommended as per SMBus interface standards. I did not see these in schematic

Vince: Since the schematic is incomplete file and the pull-up resistor is shown on another page.

DONE: As device is in SMBus mode, the device mode of operation will have to be set via registers. I wanted to confirm this, as it is indicated on the schematic that this pin will be used as an input, which is only the case in Pin Mode.

Vince: We are setting the DS100BR111SQE in SMBus mode and using R789(NC) for PIN MODE reserved.

  • Hi Vince,

    Thank you for these clarifications.

    Best regards,

    Greg

  • Hi Greg,

    Thanks your support.
