TPD1S514: ESD Clamping Information

Part Number: TPD1S514

I am specifically looking at the ESD clamping curve information for the protection provided in the TPD1S514x series.   I would assume the reverse working voltage is going to be 30V or higher, since the DC input can be up to 30V, but I would like to understand when the TVS starts conducting above 30V, if possible.

  • Hi Matt,

I only have limited information on this device.  My understanding is the same as yours.  I don't have a Vrwm number, IV curve, or TLP curve I can provide for the surge clamp.  The closest thing I have is the surge waveform on datasheet page 11.

    Regards,
    Eric

  • Eric,

Thanks for checking.  The ESD protection is a bit less than our customer requires.  Probalby with good cap value/placement, the 15KV would suffice.  I was considering adding a supplemental TVS on the input, but wanted to make sure it would clamp before this device.  Since this device allows up to 30V DC input, the clamping much occur above 30V, so if I chose my TVS to clamp lower than 30V, it should work.
