TCAN1145-Q1: INHpin will probabilistically (3/10) rise during dormancy.

Part Number: TCAN1145-Q1

When using the TCAN1145-Q1 chip, an instruction is sent to put the mainboard into sleep mode, but the SBC_WAKE signal abnormally surges. After investigation, it was found that the INH pin would probabilistically rise during sleep mode. Why does the INH pin abnormally rise during sleep mode?

  • Hi Zhen,

There are a variety of reasons. Please reference the state diagram in Figure 10-8 in the datasheet.

The places to start checking are Local Wake Up sources (LWU) from the WAKE pin, and Wake Up Patterns on the CAN bus (WUP). I would also check the VSUP supply. If it drops into the undervoltage region <4.3V, then when VSUP recovers the transceiver will start into the Standby mode with INH=high.

After TCAN1145 exits Sleep mode, you should read the SPI registers to see what caused the wake up, causing INH to go high. The registers to check are INT_1, INT_2, INT_3, and INT_CANBUS.

    Best,

    Ethan
