TUSB211: Placement location for USB2 topology

Part Number: TUSB211

Hi,

I am using TUSB211RWBR device to boost USB2 signal due to lengthy PCB trace on the motherboard. Topology diagram for the entire USB2 path attached below for reference. Could you please suggest if it is advisable to keep the device at location 1 or location 2 on Motherboard for best signal conditioning for the entire channel?

Routing lengths in microstrip and stripline layers included for reference in diagram:

  • Thanks for the heads up, Joshua.
In the meanwhile, please find the updated topology diagram for our application.
Please ignore the topology diagram shared in the earlier comment.

  • Hi Utsuk,

We recommending placing our USB2 redrivers closer to the connector, so location 2 on this diagram would be where I recommend placing the redriver.

Additionally, I would recommend switching to the TUSB211A, as this is one of our newer USB2 redrivers that has the same pinout as the TUSB211, and includes more functionality.

I would also recommend setting EQ at the lowest setting at the start, and increasing as needed to avoid overcompensation.

    Thanks,

    Ryan
