TCAN1576-Q1: quickest path to test your parts?

Part Number: TCAN1576-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TCAN1472-Q1, TCAN1145EVM, TCAN-SOIC8-EVM, TCAN-SOIC14-EVM

Hello

I want to evaluate on a 3 node CAN FD network using your parts: TCAN1576-Q1 (with SPI and bus fault detection) and  TCAN1472-Q1 (8 pin CAN FD).

1.What Eval board should I order?

2. Where is the s/w code to quickly do some testing of moving packets between nodes?

3. Will I need to buy a microcontroller EVAL board too (no problem).

4. Show me the quickest path to test your parts?

 Thanks

  • Hi Buck,

Thanks for reaching out on E2E!

    1. You will likely want to order our TCAN1145EVM for testing the TCAN1576 device. This has the MCU built in to the EVM. TCAN1576 is just the CAN SIC enabled version of the TCAN114x series of SPI controlled transceivers, so that EVM will work for it. You can order the TCAN-SOIC8-EVM for the TCAN1472 transceiver.

    2. We do have starter code for the TCAN114x series which is nearly the same as the TCAN1576. It won't run right away, but it will get you close. Just shoot me an email at ethan.s@ti.com and I can send it to you.

    3. This depends, but likely no since the TCAN1145EVM has one built-in. However, if you want to use your own, there is a way to configure the TCAN1145EVM to do so.

Another option for the TCAN1576 transceiver is the simpler TCAN-SOIC14-EVM. This is a universal board for 14 pin transceivers, but you will need an external CAN enabled MCU.

    Best,
