TCAL6416R: Looking for a GPIO Expander with non-volatile outputs

Part Number: TCAL6416R

I am looking to replace an Infineon CY8C9520A-24PVXI in a design.  We are doing a full board spin and do NOT need a drop-in replacement.  Requirements:

1 - 16 bi-directional GPIO pins
2 - I2C bus with multi-address capability
3 - Non Volatile ouputs (so output state saved during power cycle)
4 - PWM on outputs (nice to have)
5 - Interrupt pin for inputs (nice to have)

Does TI have anything that gets close to those requirements?

  • Hi David,

    The TCAL6416R does have 16-bi-directional GPIO's, 2 addresses, I2C controlled, and a single interrupt for all 16 IO's.

The outputs are volatile and will reset on a power cycle.

This device does not have an oscillator and does not support PWM outputs.

If you would like, please message me at t-townsend@ti.com. I can loop you in directly with our system engineer to discuss potential future options for our I2C roadmap.

    Regards,

    Tyler

    Thanks!

We are looking at revising our requirements right now.  If we do, the part you called out can work for us.  If we do change our requirements, I will reach out directly.
