TCAN4550: GPIOx_CONFIG Settings for Test Mode

Part Number: TCAN4550

Hello,

are the GPO2_CONFIG, GPIO1_CONFIG and GPIO1_GPO_CONFIG settings in the Modes of Operation and Pin Configuration Register (h0800) still relevant when the TCAN4550 is used in Test Mode with TEST_MODE_CONFIG = 1?

E.g. GPIO1 is the RXD input (from the external CAN transceiver) in this mode. Must GPIO1_CONFIG be set to "10 = GPI – Automatically becomes a WD input trigger pin." or could it be left "00 = GPO"?

Thanks

  • Hello AP,

No.  When using one of the test modes, TEST_MODE_EN = 1 and this will cause the internal signals from either the Controller or Transceiver to be MUX'd out on the GPIO1 and GPO2 pins as described in the datasheet according to the TEST_MODE_CONFIG bit setting.  The GPO2_CONFIG and GPIO1_GPO_CONFIG settings should be ignored by the device.

The GPO2_CONFIG and GPIO1_GPO_CONFIG settings are only valid when not using Test Mode and TEST_MODE_EN = 0.

    Regards,

    Jonathan
