DP83867E: DP83867E vs DP83869hm SGMII mode

Part Number: DP83867E
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DP83869HM, DP83869

Hi we have a design that has changed from a DP83869hm to a DP83867E, this is connected in 4 wire SGMII mode, with no mdio, the system is not working so question is do we need to change any sw drivers or so the new phy is supported? is there a difference in the sgmii bus?

were not using mdio just the hw strap options, the DP83869hm work fine in same 4 wire SGMII mode but the DP83867E is not

  • Hi,

Could you share the strap setting for 867E? Strap misconfiguration could cause this.

    Best,
    J

  • ADD1, ADD0 = 01

    ADD3, ADD2 = 00

    AUTONEG = 0

    RGMII RX0 SKEW = 0

    RGMII RX2, RX1 SKEW = 0, 0

    RGMII TX1, TX0 SKEW = 0, 0

    ANEG_SEL, RGMII TX0 SKEW = 0, 0

    MIRROR ENABLE, SGMII ENABLE = 1, 1

    ...

as a test we used the USB to MDIO dev board and can talk to the phy ok, so is there a sw driver change needed in the modem mac to move from the DP83869hm to a DP83867E?

  • Hi Lee,

Driver change from 869 to 867 is needed.
Also, what is the exact issue you are facing? Is there no link at all, is the ping not working, etc.?
Knowing what the exact issue will help the debug process.

Also, I noticed that mirror mode is enabled. Is this consistent with your DP83869 design?

Lastly, if you have register access, could you check register 37h?

    Best,
    J
