SN75LVPE5421: How to measure EQ vs frequency chart?

Part Number: SN75LVPE5421
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN75LVPE5412

Hi team,

My customer designed our device and they would like to evalaute our solution.

They would like to check datasheet page10 Figure5-1/-2/-3 measurement waveform but don't know how to do.

So please advise what kind of equipments we used and also provide guide line to test.

Thanks

  • Hi team,

I also add customer's statement as well.

    Thanks

    As talked just now,

We use TI SN75LVPE5421/ SN75LVPE5412 in PCIe raiser cable ass'y,

We wonder how to obtain this frequency respond as below?

Could you advice your testing setup? (including instruments, tooling & IC pins setting etc.)

    THANKS FOR THE SUPPORTS!

  • Hi Paul,

In general, we don't see customers measuring the EQ boost vs Frequency curve because this will not directly validate your system performance.

Instead we suggest evaluating redriver functionality through PCIe system-level testing:

    1. Link Training: verify link-up at expected width and speed
    2. Eye Diagram: measure eye opening at host and endpoint. (Typically we see Root Complex will have lane margining capability)
    3. PCIe Compliance: Validate system against PCI-SIG specifications.

These functional tests can demonstrate if the redriver solution meets your application requirements.

Has the board been designed yet or are you still at design phase? We are happy to provide schematic and layout reviews.

    Best,

    Charles
