TUSB8041: TUSB8041 schematic review

  I'm working on schematic review and will be complete by tomorrow.

   I saw many USB3 muxes in the design, how many muxes in each signal  path. What is insertion loss for each mux at 5Gbps?

The USB originate from anther board yet to be updated.

The USB is connected by a 2m shielded cable. The data pins for each input are separated by a GND pins from a shared GND over both boards.

I mean you have same name for different hubs, not different port from same hub.

  During PCB layout, all signals with same net name will be shorted together. So its better   to change  hub port name in schematic for different hubs.

I am using hierarchical labels. Each sheet labels are independent form each other.

They are connected on page 1 pile of spaghetti sorry for any confusion.

For point 1

I have added in the AC cap’s.

For point 2

I am using Kicad to make the schematics. To get multiple pages you have to use hierarchical sheets.

Then you can make hierarchical labels that then show on the master page(page1). Hierarchical labels cannot see hierarchical labels from any other sheet.

So, on Page 1 of the schematic is the linking of all the sheets together.

Hierarchical labels look like this

looks like for SS signal,  TUSB1042 to hub connection is wrong.'

It should be TUSB1042 TX to hub RX and 

TUSB1042 RX to hub TX.

Fir TUSB1042, SSTX is input and SSRX is out put, does tusb1042 SSTX/SSRX is connected to USB connector?

Just so I have got this correct I need to put a crossover in the RX and TX lines when linking them between IC.

USB Pathway

From USB connector (Input) > to TUSB1042I is this straight wired or do I need to put crossover in?

TUSB1042I (Output) TX connect > RX on HD3SS6126 (Input)

TUSB1042I (Output) RX connect > TX on HD3SS6126 (Input)

HD3SS6126 (Output) TX connect > RX on TUSB8041 (Input)

HD3SS6126 (Output) TX connect > RX on TUSB8041 (Input)

   HD3SS6126 is just passthrough, there is no TX or RX for MUX.

  From USB connector (Input) > to TUSB1042I should be straight wired if it is standard USB connector

   TUSB1042I (Output) TX connect to  mux to RX on TUSB8041 (Input)

    TUSB1042I (Output) T]RX connect to  mux to TX on TUSB8041 (Input).

TUSB8041 (Output) TX connect > USB Connector (Output) should be straight wired if it is standard USB connector

The output at the end of the chain is a USB type-B connector.

 Yes, it’s connected to a USB type-B connector.

 USB Pathway

From USB type-A connector (Input) > to TUSB1042I.

TUSB1042I (Output) > Input on HD3SS6126.

HD3SS6126 output Tx & Rx on the SS data lines are crossed to TUSB8041 inputs.

TUSB8041 output goes to USB type-B connector

what is TUSB8041 input and what is TUSB8041 output?

Normally TUSB8041 upstream port is input and hub downstream port is outpur.

 I have each of the 4 inputs using a type-A connector connecting to a DP_DNx.

Output to PC on the USB_UP port using a type-B connector.

 See below diagram for USB 1 in data path.

Will this work or do I need to use a different IC

yes, need to remove cap  or change caps to 330pf on RX channel.

also need to connect 1042 SSTX to SSRX of type-A connector

           .and  connect 1042 SSRX to SSTX of type-A connector.

for TUSb1042, SSTX is input and SSRX is output.

 I have removed the cap from the RX channel

I have swapped 1042 SSTX to SSRX of type-A connector

The above changes are in an orange box on pages 3,4,5&6.

For TUSb1042, SSTX is input and SSRX is output I think I have already swaped them over in the Yellow Box on pages 3,4,5&6.
