SN55LVRA4-SEP: Circuit protection

Are there protection schemes available for this device? The transient threat I am working with is a 100V/ 1A damped sine (Q of 15) in the frequency range of 10kHz to 100 MHz. The waveform is pin injected. I was thinking some type of galvanic isolation, but I am unfamiliar with how to protect LVDS signals.

Hi Dean,

I am unfamiliar with the pulse your describing, but it sounds like you need galvanic isolation. Unless you're transmitting at very low speeds, a TVS diode that can handle a 1A sine wave would have too much capacitance and attenuate the signal.

That is more or less what I expected. Would you have a recommended transformer or device? With the nature of SN55LVRA4-SEP being a nuclear hardened device, any isolator with semiconductors would also need to either be nuclear hardened or we will have to do an analysis. Thank you for the help thus far!

It looks like the highest data rate isolator we have is ISO6041 which can go up to 200Mbps. However, the only space grade device is ISOS141-SEP which goes up to 100Mbps.
