Dear TI Expert,

We are currently using the SN65LVDS101D in our project to convert an LVDS signal to an LVPECL signal. During our application, we have some questions regarding the input signal frequency range and would like to seek your guidance.

Could you please advise whether this device has any minimum input frequency requirement?
If the input signal is at a relatively low frequency (for example, below a few MHz or even close to DC), can the device still operate properly and maintain good output signal quality?

Hello,

There is no minimum frequency requirement for this device. It will work at DC.

Hello, I have another question I’d like your help explaining. Regarding the termination of LVPECL outputs, in the document SCAA056, DC coupling uses a 50 Ω termination to VCC − 2 V, while AC coupling uses a 50 Ω termination to VCC − 1.3 V. Why are the termination circuits different for DC coupling and AC coupling?

Hi Aaron,

Since the AC-coupling capacitor blocks the DC components of the signal, a higher termination voltage is needed to compensate for this.
