TCAN4551-Q1: TCAN4551 sleep current

Part Number: TCAN4551-Q1

Hi TI Experts,

My circuit use 24V(Vsup) to power TCAN4551 and i measurement current at A location (red circle in picture), According to the datasheet, the maximum current of the Tcan4551 when it enters sleep mode is 42uA, but the current in my circuit is 123uA. How can I confirm that it has entered sleep mode? and any possible reasons for the current change to 123uA?

By the way, in my circuit, Vio(3.3V) is not disabled when entering sleep mode. Could this be why I can't measure the 42uA current?

  • Hello Chung,

The maximum VSUP supply current in Sleep Mode is 42uA under the specific test conditions listed in the datasheet which includes VIO = 0V.  You may see higher current levels under different conditions.

Also, the Isup current spec is just for the current flowing through the TCAN4551-Q1's VSUP pin.  If you have any other component connected to the VSUP supply rail such as pull-down resistors, etc. then that current will also need to be accounted for and may contribute to the total current you are measuring on the supply.

    Regards,
