TUSB2E221: How to test the eUSB2 interface electrical spec between host to TUSB2E221?

Part Number: TUSB2E221
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TIGER

Hi,

My customer is asking whether they should check the electrical spec for eUSB interface that is between eUSB2 host and TUSB2E221?

I don't find the electrical spec or timing in the TUSB2E221 datasheet.

Is there any eUSB2 CTS? I found the document of "Embedded USB2 (eUSB2) Physical Layer Supplement to the USB Revision 2.0 Specification", but not sure whether end equipement development should check it or just only eUSB2 host should check this spec for electrical tests?

Please advise how TI to verify the eUSB2 spec in TUSB2E221 if any?

Or it is all from host, thus TUSB2E221 will not take this verification and only verify USB2 TX compliance?

Thanks and Best regards,

Tiger

  • Hi Tiger,

Compliance testing with eUSB2 signaling still used the USB2 test spec for the most part. The typical test setup would be an eUSB2 PHY sending testing packets through our repeater to a USB2 connector, and then capturing the waveform at the connector to test with the USBET tool.

This eUSB2 spec does feature some eye diagrams templates for Native mode testing in section 7.1.5.2, but if not being used for a native mode application, then the USB2 test spec still applies. The USBET tool has been updated to perform eye diagram testing with eUSB2 in mind, so it should be able to support this.

Otherwise, compliance testing should be about the same to USB2 compliance testing.

    Thanks,

    Ryan
