TUSB2E221: Simulation tests

Part Number: TUSB2E221

Hi Team,

The TUSB2E211 supports EQ adjustment. Is this automatically adjusted or set via an external resistor? The customer's design has relatively long EUSB signal traces. Can the TUSB2E211 support this layout? What is the recommended EQ setting? Thank you

  • Hi Yadong,

The TUSB2E221 should be able to support this layout, yes. The default values of the eUSB2 PHYs in the repeater are set with a 5 inch trace in mind for eDP/eDM:

Does the customer intend on using I2C or GPIO? The recommended EQ level is based on the Equivalent Series Resistance (ESR) of the USB2 trace, so I would recommend the customer determine what their expected ESR is in their system, and set their EQ settings based on that.

    Thanks,

    Ryan

  • Hi Rayan,

The total is not only 5 inchs, pls check the pre/post channel, does the TUSB2E221 support it? Add power lose for layout and cable:0.13dB/inch @0.24GHz,cable total loss 0.4dB@0.24GHz

  • Hi Yadong,

The eUSB2 trace in this block diagram will only cover the pre-channel section of the block diagram, 4.65 inches. This section covers the eUSB2 trace, while the post-channel will be the USB2 trace, as the TUSB2E221 translates the eUSB2 signaling to USB2 signaling. The TUSB2E221 should be able to support this, yes.

    Thanks,

    Ryan
