DP83TC812S-Q1: DP83TC812S-Q1 Address Strap Pull Up Rail

Part Number: DP83TC812S-Q1

Hello,

We are using several on this IC in the product with single MDIO.  Having trouble establishing connection with them.

Id like to confirm with you what datasheet states for strap (and strap excell tool).

We have VDDMAC at 1.8V and VDDIO at 3.3V

The address pins RX_ER and RX_CTRL are referenced to VDDMAC rails i.e. 1.8V.  However, in the datasheet the MODE table 7-18 doesn't mention VDDMAC and only references VDDIO only as 3.3, 2.5 and 1.8.   And configuration tool only has VDDIO selection option(not VDDMAC) for the strap resistor values.

Question, since address pins RX_ER and RX_CTRL are referenced to VDDMAC, should we use 1.8V  as a reference to calculate resistor values from or VDDIO 3.3V  (i.e. in excell configuration tool choose VDDIO 3.3 or 1.8V)?

Your help is much aprciated to help us troubleshoot.

  • Hi Vitaliy,

The resistor values indicated in Table 7-18 should be used for the voltage the relevant pin is strapped to, even if it not in the VDDIO domain. Since RX_ER and RX_CTRL are referenced to VDDMAC (1.8V), the strap resistor values should be the same as those listed under "VDDIO = 1.8V" in the table.

    Best regards,

    Greg
