THVD4411: THVD4411 Shutdown Pin Function

Part Number: THVD4411

Hello,

I am interested in using the THVD441 in an upcoming RS-485 application. One feature that makes this device particularly appealing is the ability to fully disable it via the Shutdown (SHDN) pin.

I would like to confirm the following behavior when the SHDN pin is asserted:

  1. All outputs are placed into a high-impedance state.
  2. The state of the Direction (DIR) pin has no effect on the outputs while the device is shutdown.

Could you please confirm that this is the expected behavior? I want to ensure this aligns with my design requirements before selecting this component.

Thank you for your assistance!

  • Hi Gabriel,

Yes, the shutdown pin disables the outputs such that they will be high impedance. The DIR pin will not change the effects.

We have an evaluation module for this device: https://www.ti.com/tool/THVD4411EVM

(Should also be on digikey or Mouser if that makes it easier). Feel free to tinker with it and see if it works for your application.
