DP83869EVM: Issue with setting up 100Mbps

Hi,

I have config LED[2:0] = 000 and OP_MODE[2:0] = 100 and have connected the AM62b-P1 board.

Hardware connection looks something like this -
PC>UMC-GA1F1T>DP83869EVM>AM62b-P1 board.

In this case LED0 & 1 are on, and LED2 is blinking. It works perfectly; I was able to ping the board, but when I connect the BeagleBone Industrial, only the LED2 will blink for 5-10 sec, and then it will turn off.

I thought maybe Beaglebone needed 100 Mbps, so I have set OP_MODE[2:0] = 101: LED0 was on for 3-5 sec and turned off, LED1 was off, and LED2 was blinking for 10 sec and then turned off.

It wasn't able to connect to the BeagleBone at all. Can you help me with this issue?

Hi Fnu,

On the EVM, link loss pass through is enabled by default and this can cause the link to drop. You can disable link loss pass through by setting bit 3 of 1ech register low.

Hi Fnu,

Did you enable extended register on USB2MDIO? If so, you can just do a write to 01EC directly. Actually, this can be done via pin strapping. There is a link loss jumper you can change. I also just realized that signal detect pin is enabled by default so you will have to disable that. Please write bit 9 of C10h register high to disable signal detect pin.

Hi J,

So I have connected the 'Link_Loss' jumper pin, and also did
Register 01EC is: 1FF5
Register 0C10 is: 0200

I see only LED0 is On, LED1&2 is off

Hi Fnu,

It looks like copper link is up but not fiber link.
Does beaglebone industrial connect as a copper or fiber? If it is copper, this would be an issue with the fiber link part so beaglebone industrial should not cause this.

I have Beaglebone(100Mbps) connected to Copper and Fiber to PC via SFP 1G (1000M)

Hi J,

I want to use DP83869EVM board to have Fiber (1000M - fixed) and on Copper side either 100M or 1000M, is it possible to configure the evm board such?

Hi Fnu,

you can only do 100M or 1000M media conversion on this device. This device does not support 100 to 1000M media coversion.
